Akira Sakamoto (坂本 秋良 Sakamoto Akira) is the class president in Toru's class (1-D). He's a highly respected member of the school due to his much-revered older brother and his own excellence in both academic performance and character. He is referred to as "Sakamoto-sama" by his peers regardless of their seniorities, and all students bow when they see him, though he feels somewhat intimidated by such reverence. Akira and his family are the main characters of one of Tsuda's earlier manga works, Family Complex.

Akira was born as the third child of Hidetoshi and Nanami Sakamoto. He has an older brother, Harumi, an older sister, Natsuru and an younger sister, Fuyuki. All of his family members are amazingly beautiful and, in his sisters' case, androgynous as well. In the past, Akira had often been pointed out as the only "average" looking person in his family by both himself and strangers. For a while, Akira felt out of place or "unworthy" of belonging to his own family. When his family found out about his worries, they quickly reassured him and dismissed such ideas. His siblings (especially his older brother and older sister) usually fight for his attention, since their brother is such a kind-hearted and good-natured boy.

Akira has a rather boyish look upon his face. He has spiky green hair that's green from the bottom and fades into white on the top of his head and bangs that's parted in the middle. His eyes are also emerald green. His skin is fairly pale.

Akira is a very kind, talented and gentle boy. For pretty much the same reasons, he has been hand-picked by Arisada as the next in line for the student council president and has on quite a number of occasions shown great leadership skills.

In both anime and manga, Akira plays almost the same role. The only difference is that in the manga he must compete with Mitaka for the role of president of the Student Council, after Mitaka decides to run against him. With the help of Yuujirou and Tooru, he gained the support of the students and later becomes the president of the Student Council with Mitaka as vice-president. Mitaka also started to fall in love with Akira, and by the end of the manga he is so dedicated to him that he's never more than a few feet away from Akira.
